Yiddish Writers Group
In 1941, Bryks created a writers group of 24 Yiddish writers. Since Bryks had no pull with the administration, he asked his colleague Rosenstein to organize soup coupons since Rosenstein was able to approach Rumkowski.
This literary group met in the home of the poetess Miriam Ulinover, located at Yaakoba 15 in the Lodz ghetto. There were meetings where about 15 Yiddish writers of the ghetto would meet regularly in the afternoon after work, and read their creations, and wait for her reaction. In addition to Rachmil Bryks, members who sometimes joined the group included Szaja Shpiegl, Chava Rosenfarb, Dinka Fersht, Yisroel Tabaksblat, Alter Shnur, Rivka Kviatkovsky, Simkhe-Bonim Shayevitz, Yosef Zelkovitz, Feivl Gorfinkel, Yehuda-Leib Gersht, Moishe Volman, Avraham Yoakhimovitz, Khaya-Hinda Levi, Rukhl Volinsky, Aharon Mansfeld, Shimon Yanovsky, Rosa Yaakabovitz, Khana Gerson Rabinovitz, Avraham Meizels, Avraham Patshorek, and Moishe Sanek.
